We are living in a moment that asks enormous amounts of us. The pace, the noise, the relentless demands on our attention and our energy - the cumulative weight of modern life on the nervous system is real, and it is significant.
Flower City Acupuncture exists as a response to that reality.
A collaborative community clinic housed within Living Yin - founded by Dr. Jacki Fichtner and Dr. Shamus Clancey - offering high-quality, affordable acupuncture in a shared, intentionally designed space.
This is medicine for the community. For the nervous system. For this moment.

Sessions are offered by both practitioners. When you book into the community room, you are booking into the Flower City clinic, not with a specific provider.
Flower City Acupuncture uses a separate booking system from Living Yin private sessions.

what to expect
Community sessions are designed to be simple, streamlined, and restful.
That simplicity is intentional.
Before your first appointment you'll complete a digital intake form sent automatically upon booking. Returning patients complete a brief digital check-in form before arriving for each session. This is how we stay current with where you are - your health, your cycle, your nervous system - so that treatment is always informed and appropriate even within the community format.
Sessions are simultaneous. Several patients arrive at the same time and choose an open treatment table. Each session runs as a one-hour group block. The room is quiet by design, and you are welcome to settle in wherever feels right to you. There is no extended conversation during sessions, and we ask that you honor that stillness for yourself and for those around you.
The community room is accompanied by immersive soundscapes designed by Dr. Shamus Clancey with nervous system regulation in mind, played in Dolby Atmos surround sound. It is a clinically informed sonic environment that works alongside your treatment to support the kind of deep rest that allows real healing to take place.
You'll rest with needles for approximately 30 minutes.
Most people find the shared stillness in the community room surprisingly profound.
Treatment here is intentionally focused. Present, supportive, and attuned to where you are. It is not the same depth of individualization as a private session, and it is not meant to be. It is complete in itself, and for many people it is exactly what they need.
Please arrive on time. Sessions begin together and late arrivals disrupt the experience for everyone in the room. You are welcome to bring an eye mask or anything else that supports your rest.

A note on fertility and cycle support:
Community sessions can absolutely hold space for where you are in your cycle or fertility journey. Your check-in form keeps us informed.
Treatment in the community room is supportive and present - and it is lighter and less individually tailored than what private sessions offer.
For many people in active fertility treatment, community sessions work beautifully alongside private care rather than instead of it.

when private sessions are the right choice
Community sessions are valuable precisely because they are streamlined.
But there are times when the depth and individuality of a private session is simply what the situation calls for.
A private session with Dr. Jacki is the right choice when you:
~ Are seeking specialized women's health care with extended clinical attention
~ Need to discuss labs, diagnostic results, or cycle updates
~ Are navigating a complex, sensitive, or evolving presentation
~ Have questions or concerns that require a conversation before or during treatment
~ Are new to acupuncture and want a thorough introduction to the medicine and how it applies to your specific situation
Private sessions with Dr. Jacki focus exclusively on women's health across the reproductive lifespan - fertility, pregnancy, postpartum, gynecological health, and peri/menopause.
Private sessions with Dr. Shamus focus on wellness, men's health, and pain management.
Both practitioners also work hours in the Flower City community room.

We are committed to making consistent, high-quality acupuncture accessible to the Rochester community. Pricing is straightforward and transparent.
Community Session ~ $55
Hardship Rate ~ $45
The hardship rate is available for those experiencing financial difficulty.
Please reach out before booking to access this rate.
Community sessions are booked through a separate booking system from Living Yin private appointments. Please use the Flower City booking link below (coming soon) for all community sessions.
New Patients will receive a detailed intake form upon booking. Returning patients receive a brief check-in form before each sessions. Both should be completed before you arrive.
Community hours are offered during select times each week by both Dr. Jacki and Dr. Shamus.
