fertility acupuncture

The path to pregnancy is not always straightforward. For many women it is long, nonlinear, and exhausting in ways that are hard to put into words.

You may be just beginning to explore your options. You may be looking to optimize your natural fertility. You may be deep in a treatment protocol, navigating medications, monitoring appointments, and the emotional weight of waiting. You may have experienced loss. Wherever you are on this path, you deserve care that meets you where you are.

Fertility acupuncture at Living Yin is specialized, evidence-informed care rooted in a deep understanding of both Eastern medicine and the Western medical landscape.

how acupuncture supports fertility

Fertility is not a single variable. It is the sum of many interconnected systems - hormonal, circulatory, nervous, and emotional - all working in concert. When any part of that system is under strain, the whole is affected.

Acupuncture works by supporting the body's own regulatory capacity.

In the context of fertility this means:

~ Supporting healthy hormone regulation and ovarian function

~Promoting circulation and nourishment to the uterus and ovaries

~Improving the quality of the uterine lining and follicular environment

~Regulating the menstrual cycle and supporting ovulation

~Calming the nervous system and reducing the physiological impact of stress on reproductive function

These aren't separate benefits, they are interconnected expressions of a body that is being supported to function optimally.

Acupuncture also addresses the emotional dimension of fertility - the anxiety, the grief, the hope. A regulated nervous system is not only more comfortable to live in, but it is a more receptive environment for conception.

Bridging eastern & western fertility care

Fertility treatment today is often a collaboration between multiple providers, multiple protocols, and multiple forms of medicine. Navigating that landscape - the monitoring appointments, the medications, the lab results, and timing - can feel overwhelming even when everything is

going well.

For several years, I worked part-time onsite at CNY Fertility, one of the regions leading reproductive medicine clinics, while simultaneously running Living Yin. That experience gave me something that cannot be learned from lectures and textbooks - a deep, working familiarity with the western fertility world from the inside.

I understand the language of reproductive endocrinology. I can read your labs, interpret your levels, understand your protocol, and speak meaningfully about your process. When you come mid-cycle, mid-stimulation, or mid-transfer protocol, nothing gets lost in translation.

This means your acupuncture care is not happening alongside your western treatment in parallel, it is integrated with it, informed by it, and designed to support it at every stage.

Many of my patients are referred directly by their reproductive endocrinologists and OBs. That trust is not something I take lightly.

acupuncture &
assisted Reproductive technology

If you are preparing for or currently undergoing IUI or IVF, acupuncture can play a meaningful role in supporting your body and your outcomes.

The research supporting acupuncture alongside ART continues to grow. What we see clinically, and what the evidence increasingly reflects, is that acupuncture supports follicular development, improves uterine lining receptivity, reduces the physiological stress response associated with stimulation protocols, and supports recovery after retrieval.

ART support is not generic. Because I understand your protocol, your medications, and where you are in your cycle, treatment is timed and adapted with precision. The week before retrieval looks different from the week of transfer. The two week wait has its own specific needs.

Acupuncture should work alongside your reproductive endocrinologist - and in my experience, the women who integrate both forms of care tend to feel more grounded, more supported, and more at ease through one of the most physically and emotionally demanding processes a body can move through.

male factor fertility

Fertility is not usually a one-sided conversation. In nearly half of all cases where conception has been challenging, male factor plays a role,  but it is often the last thing addressed.

We are fortunate to offer specialized acupuncture care for both partners. Dr. Shamus Clancey brings expertise in men's health and male factor fertility; Supporting sperm parameters and overall reproductive health.

Having both sides of the equation supported in one place means that care for both partners can be informed, coordinated, and rooted in the same philosophy of whole-person support.

Dr. Shamus and I work collaboratively, ensuring that nothing gets lost between two separate practices or two separate philosophies of care.

what to expect in your care

Fertility support here begins with time. Your first appointment is a thorough, unhurried intake. We have a conversation about your health history, your cycle, your investigations and lab work, your treatment history, and what you're hoping for. Nothing is rushed and nothing is irrelevant. The full picture is important.

From there, treatment is structured around your cycle. Acupuncture for fertility is most effective when timed intentionally. The follicular phase, ovulation, and the luteal phase each have their own clinical priorities. Your treatment adapts accordingly, following the rhythm of your cycle rather than working against it.

Frequency matters in fertility support, though recommendations vary due to individual factors and ART treatment plans. Most women begin with once a week or once every two weeks, with treatment adapted as we track how your body is responding. Over time, as patterns shift and the body finds its rhythm, we adjust.

This is not always a short process, but what I can tell you is that the women who commit to consistent care tend to feel more grounded, more informed, and more at ease in their bodies, regardless of where their journey ultimately leads.

You will always leave knowing where we are, what we are working on, and why.

you don't have to walk this path alone

Wherever you are in your fertility journey - just beginning, deep in treatment, or somewhere in between - there is support available that is specialized and genuinely present for all of it.

When you're ready, I'm here.
