Pregnancy Acupuncture
Pregnancy asks so much of your body - and your body is doing something remarkable.
Acupuncture during pregnancy is about supporting what's unfolding, easing the discomforts that arise, settling your nervous system, and helping you feel more at home in a body that is changing faster than you can keep up with.
Whether you're navigating nausea in your first trimester, pelvic pain in your third trimester, or just looking for a space to slow down, you're in the right place.
How Acupuncture supports you during pregnancy
Pregnancy is a very demanding experience, and acupuncture can help support that process.
Beyond symptom management, acupuncture actively supports the pregnancy itself - promoting healthy circulation and nourishment to the uterus, encouraging an optimal environment for your baby to grow, and supporting the physiological processes that sustain a healthy pregnancy from the inside out.

Throughout pregnancy, acupuncture can help with:
First trimester fatigue and nausea, the anxiety and uncertainty that often accompanies early pregnancy, and the emotional weight of a body in rapid transformation.
As pregnancy progresses - pelvic girdle pain, round ligament discomfort, back pain, heartburn, swelling, and disrupted sleep typically respond well to treatment.
For those carrying anxiety or a history of loss, regular sessions can offer a consistent space for nervous system regulation and emotional grounding.
In the final weeks, acupuncture is used to support cervical ripening, optimal fetal positioning, and labor preparation, helping your body move toward birth with as much ease and readiness as possible.

For women navigating more complex pregnancies, including gestational diabetes, hypertension, intrauterine growth restriction, placenta previa, etc., acupuncture can offer meaningful supportive care alongside your obstetric team.
First trimester
The first trimester is often the most quietly difficult. Fatigue can be profound, nausea relentless, and the emotional landscape uncertain, especially for those who have navigated loss or a long road to conception.
Acupuncture in these early weeks focuses on settling the nervous system, easing nausea and digestive disruption, and supporting the rest your body is likely asking for.
For women with a history of miscarriage or high anxiety, regular sessions can offer a steady and grounding presence during a time that asks for a lot of trust.
second trimester
For many women, the second trimester can bring some relief; Energy returns, nausea lifts, and pregnancy begins to feel more real. It is also the season of rapid physical change, and your body is working hard to keep pace.
Acupuncture in the second trimester usually shifts toward structural support, addressing the pelvic girdle pain, round ligament discomfort, and back tension that can emerge as your center of gravity changes. Sleep disruption, heartburn, and headaches are also common in this window and typically respond well to treatment.
This can also be a great time to tend to the emotional and energetic dimensions of pregnancy. Processing what this transition means, preparing your relationship with your body, and creating space to be present with what is unfolding.
Third trimester
The third trimester is a threshold. Your body is preparing for one of the most significant physical events of your life, and acupuncture in these final weeks is focused on helping you arrive at that threshold as resourced as possible.
Treatment in this season addresses any discomforts that may intensify as birth approaches. Anxiety about birth, particularly for women with a history of difficult delivery, is also something we can tend to.
In the final weeks, acupuncture is used to support cervical ripening, encourage optimal fetal positioning, and prepare the body for labor. Not to rush the process, but to support your body's own readiness. Many women find that consistent treatment in this window leads to a smoother, more manageable birth experience.
pelvic steam during pregnancy
Pelvic steam is offered selectively during pregnancy, and only at specific stages where it is both safe and beneficial.
In the postpartum window, pelvic steam is a deeply nourishing practice for recovery. It supports circulation, tissue healing, and the return of warmth and vitality.
During pregnancy itself, steam is contraindicated in most cases and will not be offered without careful clinical assessment. Your safety and your baby's are always the first consideration, and what I do is help you understand which therapies are appropriate for where you are right now.
is acupuncture safe in pregnancy?
Yes - when practiced by a qualified provider, acupuncture is considered safe throughout pregnancy and is increasingly recognized as a valuable complement to conventional obstetric care.
With a focused practice in women's health, I am trained in the specific protocols and contraindications that apply during pregnancy. Every treatment is adapted to where you are in your pregnancy, your individual history, and what your body needs at that moment.
Acupuncture is used in integrative care settings worldwide to support pregnant women, and many of my patients come with the encouragement of their OB or midwife.
what to expect in a session
Pregnancy sessions are gentle and adapted entirely to where you are in your pregnancy.
You'll be positioned for comfort, side lying or with tables that can tilt to a seated position, and supported with pillows and bolsters so your body can relax.
The needles are fine and typically painless, and most women find that once they're in place they feel very relaxed.
You'll have time and space to share what's been coming up for you physically, emotionally, or energetically, and sessions are collaborative by nature,
Pregnancy is one of the most significant thresholds of your life.
Whatever you are carrying into this season - hope, fear, physical discomfort, or just the weight of so much change - you deserve care that meets all of it.

If you've been with me through fertility or early pregnancy loss, I'm honored to continue walking alongside you.
If we are just meeting, welcome; I would be honored to support you through this season and beyond.
Care doesn't end at birth.
